Concert Ensembles
Ryle High School offers 4 classes during the school day that foster musical growth and passion within the classroom. Ranging from auditioned and non-auditioned ensembles to percussion specialized ensembles there is something for everyone!
Percussion Ensemble
The Ryle Percussion Ensemble is a class that meets during the school day at Ryle. Percussionists develop skills on a variety of instruments, including drums, keyboard, and auxiliary. Students also rehearse and perform percussion ensemble literature at various concerts throughout the year.
Additionally, students in the Percussion Ensemble have opportunities to perform with the Symphonic Band over the course of the year. An audition is not required to be a member of this group.
Symphonic Band
The Ryle Symphonic Band is a class that meets during the school day and is divided into a Symphonic Woodwind section and a Symphonic Brass section. These two sections, in addition to members of the Percussion Ensemble, combine to form the Symphonic Band.
Students will develop technique on their instrument and will also perform various band literature at concerts throughout the year. The Symphonic Band has consistently received distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Assessment. An audition is not required to be a member of this group.
Honors Wind Symphony
The Ryle Honors Wind Symphony is the top instrumental ensemble at Ryle and meets during the school day. Students in this ensemble perform challenging and exciting band literature. The Honors Wind Symphony performs several concerts over the course of the school year.
The ensemble consistently receives distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Assessment and has been named the exemplary high school ensemble of the event multiple times. An audition is required to be a member of this group.
